Yellow dal | dal fry recipe – yellow dal is a staple dish in Indian homes. It is a simple and comforting dish that goes well with rice and roti too.  I used moong dal in this recipe, you can replace it with toor dal too. Check out my Masoor dal tadka and dabba style dal tadka.
In a Pressure Cooker put oil and add cumin seeds When it splutters, add the onions and tomatoes one by one. Just saute for 2 mins. Then add the sambar powder and add 2 cups of water. Add the turmeric powder. Let this boil for 3-5 mins. Then add the moong dal and add salt. Close the cooker with lid and cook till 6-7 whistles. When it is done add the milk and boil for 2 mins. Finally, add kasturi methi and garnish with coriander leaves. Adding milk gives a creamy texture and kasturi methi gives an exotic flavor.
Serve hot with roti/rice.
